How minutes can change your entire Vedic chart
In Vedic astrology, the precision of your birth data is everything. The birth chart is calculated for a specific moment in time at a specific location on Earth. Change any of these three — date, time, or place — and you change the chart. This is not a technicality. It is the foundation of the entire reading.
The birth date determines which signs the Sun and slower planets occupy. But the Moon moves roughly one degree every two hours, changing signs every two and a half days. An incorrect birth date can place the Moon in the wrong nakshatra entirely, disrupting the dasha sequence that governs the timing of major life events.
The birth time is the most sensitive input of all. The Lagna (Ascendant) changes signs every two hours. The exact degree of the Lagna determines house cusps, divisional charts (vargas), and the precise unfolding of planetary periods. Even a fifteen-minute error can shift the Lagna degree enough to alter predictions significantly.
The birth place is needed to calculate the local horizon — the point from which the Lagna is observed. A person born at the same time in Delhi and in Chennai will have slightly different Lagnas because the eastern horizon looks different from each city. Latitude and longitude are the anchor point of your entire chart.
