The snapshot of the sky at the moment you were born
The Janma Kundali, or birth chart, is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you were born. It records the positions of the nine grahas — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu — across the twelve houses of the zodiac. This map remains with you for life; it does not change.
The most important point in your chart is the Lagna, or Ascendant — the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. The Lagna determines your entire house structure, governs your physical body, personality, and overall life direction. This is why the exact birth time matters so deeply: even a two-minute difference can shift the Lagna.
Each of the twelve bhavas (houses) governs a specific domain of life. The first house governs self and body. The second governs wealth and family. The seventh, relationships and marriage. The tenth, career and public life. The planets placed in or aspecting each house colour that area of your existence with their energies.
Reading a Janma Kundali is not about predicting isolated events. It is about understanding the rhythm of your life — which periods (dashas) are favourable for which actions, where your natural strengths lie, and where karmic lessons await. Your chart is not your cage. It is your curriculum.
