What is Vedic Astrology?

Jyotish — the ancient Indian science of light

Jyotish, which translates as "the science of light," is one of the six Vedangas — the sacred limbs of the Vedas. Passed down through thousands of years of observation and wisdom, it is not merely a system of prediction but a profound map of karma, dharma, and the soul's journey through this lifetime.

Unlike Western astrology, which is Sun-sign based and uses the tropical zodiac, Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac — aligned with the actual positions of the stars as seen from Earth. This makes it more astronomically precise. Your Vedic Sun sign may differ from your Western Sun sign by one or even two signs.

At the heart of Jyotish is the Janma Kundali — the birth chart — drawn for the exact moment and place of a person's birth. The positions of the nine grahas (planets), the twelve bhavas (houses), and the twenty-seven nakshatras (lunar mansions) together reveal patterns that have been unfolding since before you took your first breath.

Jyotish is not fatalism. It is a lamp in the dark. It shows you the energies at play in your life so you can navigate them with awareness, make better decisions, and align yourself with your dharmic path. That is what I, Guruji, am here to help you discover.
